Unclog One Toilet | Flat-Rate Service
Restore normal toilet flushing with professional flat-rate toilet clog removal from Modern Plumbing.
This service is intended to clear one accessible, floor-mounted toilet using standard toilet-clearing methods. Depending on the type and location of the blockage, our plumber may use a professional plunger, closet auger, toilet auger, toilet snake, hand auger, or another approved method designed specifically for clearing a toilet fixture.
This service is limited to a blockage located within the toilet bowl, toilet trap, or immediately accessible toilet outlet. It does not include clearing the building drain, main sewer line, septic line, or another plumbing fixture.
WHAT THIS FLAT-RATE SERVICE MAY INCLUDE
• Evaluation of one clogged toilet
• Protection of the immediate work area
• Professional plunging when appropriate
• Use of a closet auger or toilet auger
• Use of an approved toilet snake or hand auger
• Attempts to break apart, retrieve, or move an accessible obstruction
• Testing the toilet after clearing
• Multiple test flushes when appropriate
• Checking for normal bowl drainage and refill
• Basic cleanup of the immediate work area
• Recommendations when the blockage cannot be cleared through the toilet
TOILET-CLEARING METHODS
Professional Plunger
A toilet plunger creates controlled pressure and suction to loosen soft blockages and move them through the toilet trap. Professional plunging may clear clogs caused by toilet paper, normal waste, and other soft materials.
Closet Auger or Toilet Auger
A closet auger, commonly called a toilet auger or toilet snake, is designed to travel through the curved toilet trap while reducing the risk of scratching the porcelain.
The auger may break apart a blockage, push it through the toilet outlet, or hook certain objects so they can be retrieved.
Object Retrieval
Some foreign objects may be reachable using an auger or approved retrieval method. Successful retrieval depends on the object’s size, shape, position, and how tightly it is lodged.
Modern Plumbing cannot guarantee that every object can be removed without removing the toilet or performing additional work.
COMMON SIGNS OF A CLOGGED TOILET
• Water rises toward the rim when flushed
• The toilet drains very slowly
• The bowl does not empty after flushing
• The toilet overflows
• Waste or toilet paper remains in the bowl
• The toilet gurgles or bubbles
• The bowl water level is unusually high or low
• The toilet requires repeated plunging
• An object was accidentally dropped into the bowl
• The toilet stopped working immediately after an item was flushed
• Water backs up into another nearby fixture
IMPORTANT FLAT-RATE SERVICE CONDITIONS
The listed flat-rate price applies to one standard, accessible toilet clog that can be cleared through the toilet using a plunger, closet auger, toilet auger, or another standard toilet-clearing method.
The service is limited to a reasonable service attempt under normal conditions. The price does not guarantee that every obstruction can be cleared without additional work.
Some objects become tightly lodged inside the toilet trap or pass beyond the toilet into the branch drain. In those situations, removing the toilet, clearing the drain line, replacing the toilet, or performing additional diagnostic work may be required.
TOILET REMOVAL IS NOT INCLUDED
Removal and resetting of the toilet are not included in the standard flat-rate toilet unclogging service.
Toilet removal may be necessary when:
• An object cannot be reached with a toilet auger
• A solid item is wedged inside the toilet trap
• The object must be pushed or retrieved from the bottom of the toilet
• The blockage is located beyond the toilet outlet
• The toilet repeatedly clogs after standard clearing
• The toilet trap is damaged or internally obstructed
• The toilet must be inspected for a hidden foreign object
If toilet removal is recommended, Modern Plumbing will explain the additional service and pricing before proceeding.
NOT INCLUDED UNLESS SPECIFICALLY STATED
• Removal and resetting of the toilet
• New wax ring or closet bolts
• Toilet flange repair or replacement
• Toilet shutoff valve replacement
• Complete toilet replacement
• Clearing a sink, tub, shower, urinal, or floor drain
• Clearing a branch drain beyond the toilet
• Main sewer or building drain cleaning
• Septic tank pumping or septic system repair
• Sewer camera inspection
• Hydro jetting
• Roof vent clearing
• Excavation or underground drain repair
• Removal of concrete, flooring, walls, or cabinets
• Repair of cracked or damaged toilet porcelain
• Repair of water damage, flooring, drywall, or cabinetry
• Retrieval of an object that requires toilet removal
• After-hours or emergency service unless specifically purchased
BLOCKAGES BEYOND THE TOILET
A toilet clog may be caused by a blockage farther inside the plumbing system rather than inside the toilet itself.
Signs of a larger drain or sewer problem may include:
• More than one toilet is clogged
• Multiple drains are backing up
• Water appears in a tub or shower when the toilet is flushed
• The toilet bubbles when another fixture drains
• The blockage returns shortly after clearing
• Sewage backs up through a floor drain
• The home has a history of main sewer or septic problems
These conditions may require branch drain cleaning, main sewer cleaning, a sewer camera inspection, or septic service. Those services are not included in this item.
FOREIGN-OBJECT LIMITATIONS
Hard objects such as toys, toothbrushes, keys, bottles, razors, or cleaning accessories may become permanently wedged inside the toilet’s internal trap.
Attempting to force a hard object through the toilet can damage the porcelain, move the obstruction deeper into the drain system, or create a more difficult blockage.
Modern Plumbing will use reasonable professional methods but cannot guarantee successful retrieval of every object through the toilet bowl. Additional charges may apply if the toilet must be removed, reset, or replaced.
TOILET CONDITION
This service assumes the toilet is securely mounted, structurally sound, and free from visible cracks.
Modern Plumbing may stop work if the toilet is cracked, loose, unstable, severely corroded, improperly installed, or at risk of breaking during service.
Repairs to the toilet, flange, shutoff valve, supply line, flooring, or drain piping will be priced separately.
