Outdoor Hose Bib Replacement
Restore a dependable outdoor water connection with professional hose bib replacement from Modern Plumbing.
An outdoor hose bib may also be called an outdoor faucet, exterior faucet, water spigot, hose spigot, hose faucet, hose cock, sillcock, silcock, wall faucet, wall hydrant, garden faucet, or outside water tap. These terms generally describe the valve located on the exterior of a home or building that connects to a garden hose.
A worn or damaged outdoor faucet can drip continuously, leak inside the wall, spray around the handle, fail to shut off completely, or become difficult to operate. Replacing the valve can help prevent wasted water, property damage, and unreliable hose connections.
Modern Plumbing provides professional outdoor hose bib, exterior faucet, spigot, sillcock, and wall hydrant replacement throughout Inverness and Citrus County, Florida.

STANDARD AND SPECIALTY OUTDOOR FAUCETS
The appropriate replacement valve depends on the existing piping, wall construction, location, and intended use.
Common options may include:
• Standard hose bibs
• Quarter-turn hose bibs
• Boiler drains used as hose connections
• Sillcocks
• Frost-free or freeze-resistant sillcocks
• Wall hydrants
• Vacuum-breaker hose bibs
• Lockable or commercial wall faucets
• Valves with integrated backflow protection
Modern Plumbing will select or recommend a compatible valve based on the existing installation and local plumbing requirements.
BACKFLOW PROTECTION
An outdoor hose can create a potential cross-connection between the drinking water system and contaminated water.
A hose submerged in a pool, bucket, chemical sprayer, puddle, animal water container, or other non-potable source may allow contaminated water to be drawn backward into the plumbing system under certain pressure conditions.
A hose connection vacuum breaker or approved backflow-protected hose bib may be required or recommended. Replacement or installation of backflow protection is included only when specifically stated in the selected service.
IMPORTANT SERVICE REQUIREMENTS
This service is intended for replacement of one standard, accessible exterior hose bib connected to serviceable plumbing.
The existing water supply must be capable of being shut off. The piping behind the faucet must be accessible or in suitable condition to support the replacement.
The installation method will depend on whether the existing valve is threaded, soldered, glued, crimped, clamped, or connected using another approved piping system.
NOT INCLUDED UNLESS SPECIFICALLY STATED

• Relocation of the outdoor faucet
• Extensive piping replacement inside a wall, attic, crawlspace, or underground area

WALL AND PIPING CONDITIONS
Outdoor faucets are often connected to piping located inside a wall, crawlspace, cabinet, garage, or utility area.
If the existing valve is heavily corroded, broken inside the wall, improperly supported, or attached to deteriorated piping, additional access and plumbing repair may be required.
Removing an old hose bib can sometimes expose hidden damage, cracked fittings, weakened piping, or prior improper repairs. Modern Plumbing will explain any additional work and pricing before proceeding.
LEAKS INSIDE THE WALL
A hose bib may appear to leak only outdoors while also allowing water to escape inside the wall when the faucet is turned on.
Customers should stop using the valve and shut off the water supply when practical if water is visible inside the home, around the wall, near the foundation, or beneath the faucet.
This service does not include water-damage restoration, mold remediation, structural drying, or repairs to damaged finishes.
FREEZE-RESISTANT AND FROST-FREE SILLCOCKS
Some properties have frost-free or freeze-resistant sillcocks with an extended valve body that shuts the water off farther inside the building.
These valves require proper installation angle, wall depth, interior access, and removal of hoses during freezing conditions to drain correctly.
A frost-free sillcock can still freeze or rupture if a hose, splitter, timer, or closed accessory remains attached and traps water inside the valve.
Replacement of a specialty frost-free sillcock may require additional labor or access and is not included in standard pricing unless specifically stated.
