Why homeowners choose a comfort height toilet
A comfort height bowl sits noticeably taller than the older standard toilets in most Citrus County homes. For a lot of our customers, that few extra inches is the difference between struggling to stand up and not thinking about it at all.
- Easier sitting down and standing back up, which matters for seniors, taller adults, and anyone with sore knees, hips, or a recent surgery
- The elongated bowl gives more room than a round front bowl
- A practical, affordable step for aging in place, especially in a guest bath a visiting parent uses
- The Colony 3 uses 1.28 gallons per flush, about 20 percent less than a 1.6 gallon toilet and less than half of what the 3.5 gallon models we pull out every week use
- Fresh seat, supply line, wax ring, and bolts, so nothing old carries over
People replace a toilet for plenty of reasons besides height. Cracked or leaking china, a bowl that rocks, one that runs all night, frequent clogs, stubborn staining, or a bathroom that is being updated anyway. If yours is doing any of that, replacing it is usually cheaper than another round of repairs.

Common questions about comfort height toilets
How tall is a comfort height toilet?
The Colony 3 has a 16.5 inch bowl rim, which puts the finished seat right around 17 inches off the floor. An older standard toilet sits closer to 15 inches. Two inches does not sound like much until you try it. That is about the height of a normal dining chair, which is where the name chair height comes from.
Is a comfort height toilet the same as an ADA toilet?
Not exactly. The seat height on a comfort height toilet falls in the range ADA guidelines call for, which is why people use the terms interchangeably. Real ADA compliance also depends on the toilet's location, clearance from the side wall, grab bar placement, approach space, and door swing. This service installs a taller toilet. It does not certify that your bathroom meets ADA or accessibility standards.
What else do people call this kind of toilet?
Customers call us asking for a chair height toilet, a right height toilet, a tall toilet, an elevated or accessible height toilet, a senior height toilet, or a handicap height toilet. They all describe the same thing: a bowl that sits taller than a traditional toilet.
Will an elongated bowl fit my bathroom?
Usually, but not always. An elongated bowl extends a couple of inches farther into the room than a round front bowl, so it can crowd a vanity, a wall, or a swinging door in a small bath. Our plumber checks clearance and the rough in measurement before installing. If an elongated bowl will not work, we will tell you and go over the round front option.
How long does the installation take?
A standard replacement usually runs one to two hours from the time we walk in until we test the finished installation and clean up.
What happens if the flange or shutoff valve is bad?
Flange and valve problems are the two things that hide under a toilet until it comes up. If we find a broken flange or a shutoff valve that will not close, we stop, show you what we found, explain the options, and give you the price before we do anything else. Nothing extra gets added to your invoice without your approval.
Do you take the old toilet away?
Yes. Removal and disposal of one standard toilet is included in the $529.
What areas do you cover for this price?
Inverness, Lecanto, Hernando, Beverly Hills, Crystal River, Homosassa, Floral City, Citrus Springs, and the surrounding Citrus County communities. We have been serving these neighborhoods since 1978.
Standard conditions and what is not included
We would rather be upfront than surprise you on the invoice. The $529 assumes we are replacing one floor mounted toilet in its existing location, with a standard 12 inch rough in, a usable flange, a working shutoff valve, and normal floor level access, during regular business hours inside our Citrus County service area.
Not included unless we quote it separately:
- Toilet flange repair or replacement
- Shutoff valve replacement
- Drain cleaning or clearing a stoppage
- Drain pipe repair
- Floor, subfloor, tile, or structural repair
- Drywall, paint, trim, or cabinet repair
- Water damage, rot, or mold repair
- Moving the toilet or the drain
- Rough in modifications
- Grab bars and accessibility accessories
- ADA modifications or compliance certification
- Bidet seats, heated seats, or specialty seats
- Electrical outlets or wiring
- Commercial flushometer toilets
- Installing where no toilet currently exists
- Permit and inspection fees
If we run into hidden damage once the old toilet is off the floor, we will show you, explain the fix, and price it before we proceed. Warranty coverage does not extend to clogs, foreign objects flushed down the drain, misuse, impact damage, excessive water pressure, customer modifications, or plumbing outside the work we performed.
A quick favor that saves everyone money: only toilet paper and human waste go down a toilet. Wipes labeled flushable are the number one cause of the stoppages we get called out for.
