Polybutylene Pipe Repair & Repipe
If your mobile or manufactured home was built between the early 1970s and the mid-1990s, there is a good chance it has polybutylene (poly-b) piping. This gray or blue flexible plastic pipe was widely used in manufactured housing during that era — and it is one of the most common sources of plumbing failures in older Citrus County mobile homes today.
Polybutylene reacts with chlorine and oxidants in treated water, causing the pipe and fittings to flake, crack, and eventually fail without warning. It is no longer manufactured, and replacement parts are increasingly difficult to source. A pinhole leak today can become a flooded floor or a wall cavity full of mold tomorrow.
