Documented Inverness job: sewer camera inspection
At Ashley Home Store in Inverness on January 30, 2026, our technicians used a sewer camera and locator to inspect repeated drain stoppages. They documented a 6 to 10 foot bellied section holding water and paper, with no pipe collapse detected. See the drain service and recent-job details. Camera inspection is a separate service starting at $439; exterior-cleanout machine cleaning starts at $249. Our shop is in Inverness. Service is scheduled Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 5 PM; online requests are available anytime. For hidden-leak locating, we work with American Leak Detection and perform the plumbing repair afterward.

Your hometown plumber in Inverness
Inverness is where Modern Plumbing started, and it is still where we keep the shop, the trucks, and the family. Frank Lewis opened the doors in 1978, James Lewis carried it forward, and today Curtis Lewis, who was born at Citrus Memorial Hospital and graduated from Citrus High School, keeps things running the way his grandfather intended. Honest work, fair prices, and a plumber you would feel good recommending to your own family.
Inverness keeps us busy with a little of everything. Older homes near the downtown square can have galvanized supply lines and cast iron drains. Mobile and manufactured homes from the 1980s and early 1990s often still have polybutylene. Newer homes need water heater replacements, drain cleaning, and the occasional slab leak repair. Whatever you have, we explain what we find in plain English and let you decide what makes sense.

Plumbing tips for Inverness homeowners
A few things we see over and over around town, and what you can do about them:
Flush your water heater yearly
Citrus County water is hard, and the minerals settle in the bottom of the tank. A yearly flush helps it heat better and last longer.
Know what pipe you have
Many Inverness homes and mobile homes from the late 1970s to mid 1990s have gray polybutylene. If you spot it, it is worth a conversation before it becomes a leak.
Be kind to your septic
Plenty of homes around the lakes are on septic. Wipes, grease, and paper towels are the usual troublemakers, even the ones labeled flushable.
Find your main shut-off now
Take two minutes to locate your main water shut-off and make sure it turns. You will be glad you did if a line ever lets go.

Common questions
Inverness plumbing FAQ
How much does a plumber cost in Inverness, FL?
▾Modern Plumbing Services charges a $55 service call plus $95 per hour for standard work, and every job comes with an itemized invoice so you can see exactly what you paid for. Estimates are free on water heater replacements, slab leak repairs, repipes, and bathroom remodels. Seniors (65+) and veterans get $15 off.
Is Modern Plumbing Services located in Inverness?
▾Yes. Our shop is at 4196 S. Pleasant Grove Rd., Inverness, FL 34452, and the Lewis family has run the business from Inverness since 1978. Curtis Lewis, the third generation, was born at Citrus Memorial Hospital and graduated from Citrus High School.
Can you come out the same day in Inverness?
▾Often, yes. Our regular hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and because our shop is right here in Inverness, we can usually work in urgent problems the same day when the schedule allows. We do not offer after-hours service. You can schedule online anytime or call (352) 726-5601.
What plumbing services do you offer in Inverness?
▾We handle water heater repair and replacement (including AO Smith ProLine, tankless, and hybrid models), drain cleaning and sewer camera inspections, sewer repairs, slab leak repair, house and mobile home repipes, backflow testing and certification, toilet repair and installation, faucets, garbage disposals, shut-off valves, hose bibs, and accessibility fixture options.
Do you replace polybutylene pipe in Inverness mobile homes?
▾Yes. Polybutylene is a gray plastic supply pipe that was used in many homes and mobile homes built from the late 1970s through the mid 1990s, and plenty of it is still in service around Inverness. It is known for failing at the fittings as it ages, so many homeowners choose to replace it on their own schedule instead of after a leak. We repipe mobile homes and houses and the estimate is free.
Who performs professional leak detection?
▾Modern Plumbing works with American Leak Detection and performs the plumbing repairs once the leak has been located. That includes slab leak repairs, rerouting lines, and patching the concrete afterward.
Are your plumbers paid on commission?
▾No. None of our technicians are paid on commission, so nobody has a reason to upsell you. You get honest recommendations, no high pressure sales, and an itemized invoice on every job.

▾All of it, including ZIP codes 34450, 34452, and 34453. That covers Historic Downtown Inverness, the Inverness Highlands, Gospel Island, Point Lonesome, the Lake Henderson area, and homes along US-41 and SR-44. We also serve the rest of Citrus County and nearby towns.
