Before assuming you need a new disposal, let us take a look. Many disposal problems — humming without grinding, failure to start, slow draining, and unusual noises — can be repaired on the spot. We diagnose the issue, clear the jam or clog, reset the overload protector, and test the full unit before we leave.
- Jam clearing — using an Allen wrench to free a seized grinding plate, plus foreign object removal when something has dropped into the unit
- Overload reset — the thermal overload protector trips when the motor overheats; we reset it and test the cause
- Clog clearing — disposals can back up the drain line below the unit; we clear the obstruction and test drainage
- Humming disposal diagnosis — motor running but plate seized; we free it or replace the unit if the motor has failed
- Leak diagnosis — leaks from the top (sink flange), side (drain connections), or bottom (internal seal) all have different causes and solutions
- Full unit testing after service — we run water and the disposal through a complete cycle before we call it done

We handle all the water connections — the supply and drain — and coordinate the electrical side with your electrician if a new circuit is needed.
- Hot water supply line connection — typically a 3/8-inch flex line from the hot supply under the sink to the dishwasher inlet valve
- Drain line hookup — connected to the garbage disposal inlet or directly to an air gap and then to the drain; proper high loop or air gap installation for code compliance
- Air gap installation when required by local code or homeowner preference
- Securing the dishwasher under the counter — proper anchoring to prevent tipping
- Old dishwasher disconnection and removal included when replacing an existing unit
- Full test cycle run after installation to check for leaks at all connections
Note on electrical: Modern Plumbing handles all plumbing connections for dishwasher installation. If a new dedicated electrical circuit is required, you’ll need a licensed electrician for that portion. We’re happy to coordinate timing with your electrician.

- Icemaker supply line installation — proper 1/4-inch line run from a cold water supply line to the refrigerator location
- Shutoff valve installation — a dedicated ball valve shutoff so the refrigerator line can be isolated without turning off the whole house
- Refrigerator water dispenser line connection — same supply setup, also feeds in-door water dispensers
- Icemaker line relocation when moving a refrigerator to a new spot in the kitchen

We install proper ball valve shutoffs rather than saddle valves. Saddle valves — the clip-on type that pierce the supply line — are prone to leaking over time and are not permitted by Florida plumbing code in new installations.
