Our Story
A Story That Began in 1978
Modern Plumbing's story began in 1978, when founder Frank Lewis, alongside his wife, Betty Lewis, established the company with a simple belief: treat customers honestly, perform quality work, and stand behind every job. Built through hard work, integrity, and a commitment to serving the community, Frank's vision laid the foundation for a company that would become a trusted name throughout Citrus County.
As the company grew, James Lewis — together with his wife, Sirena Lewis — continued building on that foundation and helped guide Modern Plumbing through decades of growth and change. Under his leadership, the company expanded its reputation for professionalism, reliability, and exceptional customer service while holding on to the family values that customers had come to trust. James played a key role in modernizing operations, investing in quality employees, and strengthening the company's commitment to detailed estimates, quality workmanship, and honest recommendations.
Today, Modern Plumbing Services proudly carries forward the values established by Frank Lewis and strengthened by James Lewis. As a third-generation, family-owned plumbing company, we remain guided by the same principles that have been with us since the beginning: integrity, reliability, quality craftsmanship, and genuine care for our customers.
More than 45 years later, we're honored that many of the people we serve are second- and third-generation families themselves. Their continued trust is a testament to the relationships we've built and the reputation we've earned throughout the community.

Continuing the Tradition
As the third generation of leadership at Modern Plumbing Services, Curtis Lewis is proud to continue the family legacy that began in 1978.
Born and raised in Inverness, Curtis is a true Citrus County native — born at Citrus Memorial Hospital and a proud graduate of Citrus High School. Having grown up in the community he now serves, he understands the importance of treating customers like neighbors and building relationships that last for generations.
Curtis has always enjoyed working with people, and he believes the plumbing business is ultimately about helping families, solving problems, and providing peace of mind. Whether he's assisting a longtime customer or meeting a new homeowner for the first time, he's committed to making sure every person receives honest recommendations, quality workmanship, and genuine service.
Beyond the plumbing trade, Curtis is passionate about giving back to the community that has supported his family for decades. He believes local businesses have a responsibility to be active participants in the places they serve, and he takes pride in supporting local organizations, schools, events, and community initiatives throughout Citrus County.
Today, Curtis — alongside his wife, Alex Lewis — leads Modern Plumbing Services with the same values established by his grandparents, Frank and Betty Lewis, and strengthened by his parents, James and Sirena Lewis: integrity, hard work, customer care, and a commitment to being the kind of company people are proud to recommend to their family and friends.
